ABSTRACT

Theory-practice gap or education-service gap is one of the most important challenges and important issues in today's nursing care which is an important issue in Iran health care system. In this study we aimed at providing national draft on bridging the theory-practice gap of nursing care in Iran. We designed the study in three phases. In the first phase, a systematic review was done. In the second phase, a qualitative content analysis was conducted and in the last phase, we conducted a study using Delphi method. After analyzing the data, we prepared a draft with 12 documents in three structural, educational and clinical sections. After examining structural, educational and clinical components; this draft tried to provide an internalization strategy on nursing needs in Iran. Evidently, the draft belongs to specific period; hence, continuous updating of the draft is a significant key to its dynamics

ABSTRACT

Exploring factors affecting learning is crucial for resolving problems and inadequacies of the educational system. One of the main factors affecting learning is the learning style that varies in different people. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between learning styles and the characteristics of nursing and midwifery students in Qazvin University of Medical Sciences using the VARK model. This was a correlational-descriptive study. The VARK Standard Questionnaire was used for data collection. Samples were consisted of 242 nursing and midwifery students of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences chosen using the census method. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The level of significance was set as 0.05. The mean and standard deviation of raw scores of kinesthetic, audible, reading-writing and visual styles were 5.1 +/- 2.63, 5.76 +/- 2.55, 6.15 +/- 2.67, and 4.36 +/- 2.34, respectively. The highest mean was belonged to the reading-writing style. There was a statistically significant relationship between gender and academic course [P /= 0.05]. It is suggested that lecturers to be aware of the variations of the learning style among students and select the style of teaching appropriate to the student's learning style in order to improve the efficacy of learnt process

ABSTRACT

Coronary heart disease is the main cause of death and inability in all communities. Anxiety is the most common psychological response to myocardial infarction. Present study was conducted to indentify efficacy of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing on the anxiety of patients with myocardial infarction. This study is a clinical trial. Sixty patients with myocardial infarction hospitalized at the cardiac ward of a hospital in Qazvin between 2011-2012 were selected using sampling and were divided by random assignment into experimental and control groups. In order to collect data, demographic and anxiety questionnaires were used. Interventions were subsequently performed in two sessions every other day for 45 to 90 mi and anxiety level of the patients was measured before and after intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired - t-test, t-test, Willcoxon and Chi square. Mean anxiety levels in experimental group were [48.87 +/- 4.28] and [7.37 +/- 2.42] before and after intervention, respectively; therefore it statistically showed a significant difference [P<0.001]. Mean anxiety level in control group was [49.10 +/- 5.13] before intervention and it was [48.40 +/- 5.31] after intervention, so it statistically showed a significant difference [P<0.001]. The eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is a newly effective, useful, efficient and non-invasive method for treatment and reducing anxiety in patients with myocardial infarction. Nurses, particularly those who are working in Critical Care Units can use this new and effective method for treatment of anxiety in patients

ABSTRACT

Content analysis was used first in communication sciences. Today, it is frequently used in media analysis. In other sciences such as nursing, researchers apply this method in their studies. In spite of the importance of this method in nursing research, there was not enough Persian material on the subject. Therefore, this review study wasconducted to clarify and describe definitions, classifications, principles and conceptual bases of content analysis. Persian and Enghlish foreign articles and books were used in this review study. Most scholars believe that content analysis is a research tool used to determine the presence of certain words or concepts within texts or sets of texts. Some categorize it as a data analysis technique. Texts can be defined broadly as books, book chapters, essays, interviews, discussions, newspaper headlines and articles, and historical documents. Using content analysis, researchers analyze the presence of meanings and relationships of such words and concepts, then make inferences about the messages within the texts, the writer[s], the audience, and even the culture and time of which these are a part. Content analysis can be used in both quantitative and qualitative researches
